Buildings and Homes
Sometimes, the best projects are made out of what is available. In this activity, participants can make buildings, homes and even a whole city out of items found around the house.
Size of Group: 1-4
Equipment: paper towel rolls or toilet paper wolls, construction paper, markers, paint, scissors, tape.
Objectives: Improve spatial reasoning, hand dexterity, project completion, creativity and promote peer-to-peer interaction.
Description: With supervision and proper safety equipment, paint each toilet paper roll a desired color or design; after clean up and letting them dry cut construction paper into squares for windows, roofs, and other decorative structures for the building; use the scissors to cut outdoor frames; finish up by taping roofs and other pieces to the toilet paper roll and then put them all together to create a city.
